ADEME (the French agency for the Environment) is an active partner of the National Program on Urban Goods. It is so because the transport and distribution of goods constitute an important part of the environmental problems of cities. Innovation in this field could constitute part of the solution for a more sustainable urban transport system.

Data on the environmental impact of urban freight are provided, as well as a reminder of European and French main environmental regulations (vehicle emissions, noise directive, etc.). A catalogue of existing “clean” delivery vehicles is provided as well as a description of some experiments in deliveries made with electric of CNG vehicles.
